ABOUT CUYCE 关于中美青年气候交流:
China and United States, as the two biggest countries in the world, play significant roles in global environmental actions. Therefore, the youth from the two counties carry the hope and power for the future climate action. Since COP15, Chinese and American youth have been communicating in various approaches in order to come out with solutions on environmental problems. . Each year during the COP and Rio+20 conferences, youth from China and U.S. organize collaborative events that designate to promote the communication between the two. However, most of the communication and collaboration have been limited to events during international conferences and lacked a routine and informal way of informational exchange. In this project, China Youth Climate Action Network will lead to build a web-based platform for communication. The launch of this website will provide comprehensive information for youth in China, U.S. and other countries, and enable youth to share their stories and learn from each other.
WHY CHINA-US YOUTH CLIMATE EXCHANGE (CUYCE):
As representatives of the inheriting generations of the world’s largest climate emitters, we believe that China and America must be the leaders in solving the climate crisis. We recognize that the Sino-American relationship is complex, multi-faceted, and difficult. It is not enough for us to merely understand the science and the facts - the political process requires much more understanding of cultural and systemic context. Therefore we must nurture and foster collaborative skills amongst Chinese & American youth to create leaders, a new "enlightened" environmental steward, that can help us build a more sustainable shared future. If we do not learn to lead together, we won't lead at all, and all countries will suffer.
