First Scene: Communicate open-mindedly
Today I was so excited to meet Kevin, the focal point of the Sino-US project. I was so impressed with his words, “It is communication rather than anything else that is the most important thing in this convention!”
Just as Holly said during our training, “Talking face to face is the best way to communicate, and only in this way can we come into trusting, cooperating, understanding, and unifying.
Do it in personal —— Retell the charm of the campaign
Nowadays, China Youth Delegation seems to be especially low-pitched. We hope to care about scientific facts and the following of the policy, but we are so quiet.
An Australian delegate who I liked so much said to me, “We need Chinese volunteers!”Her warm smile moved me deeply. So, after her speech, I decided to join in the campaign working group.
As a matter of fact, China Youth Delegation held many opinions, but we were reluctant to lose our foothold and long-term future because of our impulsion. However, the delegates from other countries, no matter what their backgrounds were, were all very energetic to negotiate, so how could we Chinese delegates be absent?
We should never follow the unsuitable trends, and we should actively take part in the communication with our ardor to become more mature with other delegates.
Accept Differences —— We need to be more open-minded
The other day, I talked with Summer, a Chinese girl who were studying in America. She criticized a lot about China. I was kind of angry. I was not such a patriot, I just thought that she hadn’t seen the real China. Actually, whenever Chinese were condemned during the negotiation, I always wanted to disprove them by saying what hard efforts Chinese had made.
After talking with Summer, I suddenly felt that we should be more open-minded towards others’ condemnation and differences. We needn’t have to explain for their misunderstanding. Just listen to their opinions because what we were misunderstood was just what we should endeavor to make a change on.
How nice it is to have a friend talk with you, share with you, and grow with you!
Share experience —— We got some suggestions on the establishment of network.
I listened to the forum of the establishment of the international cooperation, on which the Australian girl shared her experience about setting up youth organizations like CYCAN and AYCC. When I introduced to her how China Youth Delegation developed from CYCAN, she and many other volunteers showed great interest in the topic, which gave us a great sense of responsibility. We were well-founded to make COP16 better and better after all of these.
Understand the news —— Japanese youth delegate knew nothing about the continuing of KP.
Today, I talked with two Japanese for a long time. They introduced to me an organization called Climate Youth Japan, saying their dreams about protecting the global environment. However, this was the first time they took part in the negotiation, and they just came round to have a look. They had never received any training, so they knew little about the climate change.
As we knew, during the negotiation in Tianjin, Japan didn’t want to continue KP. I asked for their opinions. To my surprise, they said they hoped that Japan could do some positive thing with other countries to improve the environment, but they really knew nothing about KP.
Anyway, we‘ll unite as one to bring out our new earth!Great!
